Directions to St. Andrew-by-the-Lake
By ferry: Take the ferry from the foot of Bay Street to Wards Island or to Centre Island. Call the Ferry Docks (416-392-8193) for departure times or click on the Ferry Schedule. It’s a 20-25 minute walk from the Ward’s Island Dock, and about 15 minutes from Centre Island Dock. Every Sunday, the church van meets the ferry arriving at the Ward’s Island dock around 10:00, so if you’d like a ride, take the ferry arriving at Ward’s before 10:00.For transportation of goods, you can rent blue carts from the Ferry DocksFor transportation of small groups and supplies, another option (for non-winter months) is the Water Taxi. Privately operated, and departing from the foot of York Street (at the Second Cup wharf,) this boat can dock at the small jetty behind the Church. It's an ideal way of transporting people and supplies directly to the Church. For more information and reservations, call 203-TAXI.Arranging for large numbers of visitors to reach the church can be challenging. Boat access depends on water levels. Motor vehicle transportation, when possible to arrange, must be done from the Ward’s Island ferry dock only. These numbers may be useful:Ferry schedules 392-8193Vehicle permits: 392-8194Water taxi 203-8294Metro Parks 392-7291If you come by ferry, once you're on the Island, the most appropriate and effective means of reaching the church is by foot or bicycle.
